NEW RELEASES |
You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
The French company Norev who has already supplied two 1:43 scale models of the all-new XC90 (2015) for Volvo's official merchandising program has recently released a white painted version in their regular model line-up. The new paint is officially called 'crystal white metallic'. White painted cars are really not my cup of tea but they have come once again quite popular over the last couple years. This model can be ordered under item number 870050. The retail price for this diecast model is somewhere between 30 and 35 €. Source & copyright: Norev

Minichamps has released the second livery of the new 1:18 scale version of the Volvo 244 GL just weeks after the first release. The second model comes with a red paint scheme. The interior reflects once again black leather seats. This second batch is already sold out at Minichamps. But you should be able to find a copy at re-sellers and stores. This model is offered for ± 75-80 € under item 155171401. This red model is offered in a limited edition of 804 units. Source: minichamps.de Short reminder: The rather low price for this 1:18 scale model by Minichamps is only possible since they have started to produce several of their models in a more affordable price range. This is largely being made possible since these models do not feature any opening parts. So you won't be able to play with your model and you won't be able to open a hood, trunk or even one of the four doors. Model overview:
Oxford Diecast goes on with their new model offensive. A bunch of new Volvo models as well as new liveries have been announced. Oxford Diecast will release as so often each model in both scales 1:43 as well as 1:76. The very new developments include models of the Volvo 760. And there will be further versions of the already announced and partially delivered Volvo Amazon's, P1800's and 245 estates. The Volvo 760 has so far only been revealed as a drawing. This shows however quite an awkward design from the C-pillar on to the very end of the trunk. I guess we will have to wait and see if the final model will be correct or not. I think it is also worth mentioning that the 1:43 scale models are RHD (right hand drive ) versions. 1:76 Oxford Automobile 1:76 Oxford Gift 1:43 Oxford Automobile Sources:
The Danish company Skandinavisk Modeltrafik has returned to work after a break. The latest release in their Nordic Collection is a Volvo PV445 Duett Panel Van decorated as service car of the well known Swedish transport company Bilspedition. This car features a dark green paint scheme together with the logo 'Bilspedition' applied on each side of the panel van. The interior is black. This model has been released earlier this year in February. It is available as a limited edition of 504 units. Each model is individually numbered and comes with a certificate. The 1:43 scale diecast model has been made by Troféu in Portugal. You can buy your copy for 298.00 DKK (40.10 €) under item number SMNC023. Skandinavisk Modeltrafik has recently added a couple more new Saab and VW models to their Nordic Collection.

Matchbox has posted yesterday new pics of the upcoming Volvo V60 on their Instagram account. The result of their work is quite promising. Looking forward to this one.
Minichamps is the first company who is offering a 1:18 scale model of the famous Volvo 244. The first livery has officially been released this weekend. The first version is painted in an attractive green metallic. The interior is all black and it seems to me that Minichamps tried to reproduce the seats finished in leather. Minichamps has chosen to reproduce the GL version from 1986. This is an obvious choice since they already did the same model in 1:43. Minichamps new 1:18 version has been produced in a limited edition of only 702 units and it is already sold out. But you should be able to find a copy at good model stores or re-sellers in your area. And if not you can wait for the second release which will feature a red paint scheme. You can buy this model for as low as 75-80 €. This is only possible since Minichamps has started to produce several of their models in a more affordable price range. This is largely being made possible since these models do not feature any opening parts. So you won't be able to play with your model and you won't be able to open a hood, trunk or even one of the four doors. I will try to write a more detailed review as soon as I have been able to inspect one of these models more closely.
The number sixty-two in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo 244 GTX. The Volvo 240 GTX was not a normal or even special trim line. GTX was simply the name of a sporty parts package which was offered by Volvo dealers throughout Scandinavia. The various parts of this specific trim kit are best viewed and explained by having a look at the following three links showing scans/photos of some period brochures:
The scale model of this Volvo 244 GTX is based on the previously released Volvo 244 Blue Star model. This means that this new livery has been made by applying new decals as well as some new detail parts. The sunroof is unfortunately not a real reproduced detail but a sticker applied to the roof. A real represented sunroof would have resulted in a making a new mold which the actual situation wouldn't have allowed in terms of costs.
Volvo has chosen Norev to develop and produce 1:43 scale models of their latest car generation: the Volvo S90 and Volvo V90.Some of you may remember last years when Norev had an embarrassing leak since an employee took a couple models of the just finished Volvo S90. Problem was that Volvo had not yet revealed any photos of their upcoming and most luxurious model. The employee ignored that this specific car was still a top secret. You can read more about this leak on this previous post. Volvo offers each model in two different paint schemes. Volvo sells each of these 1:43 die cast models for €47.60 incl tax. Each model comes packed in a plain white window box. The Volvo logo is printed on each box.

Matchbox will release later this year a 3" model of the actual Volvo V60 (modeller 2015). A first prototype had been revealed last year at a Matchbox gathering. An unpainted prototype of this upcoming Volvo V60 has been offered last month by an Malaysian seller on eBay. That prototype was finally sold for 257 dollar on March 13, 2016.
Matchbox published earlier this year on their Instagram account a painted pre-production version of the Volvo V60. Seems that the first run will be painted red. More colour schemes will follow without a doubt. Matchbox will offer the V60 under the item number DJV37 for a couple €/$ in their Basic Line for 2016. Please stay tuned for further info's on this unexpected 3" model.
