Neo Scale Models has finally released the closed version of the Volvo Amazon Coune convertible. Neo Scale Models had presented a prototype at the Nürnberg Toy Fair but I was not sure if and when it would be released. This 1:43 scale model is made out of resin. This first release is painted silver metallic and features a black interior. It is available for 69.95 € under item number NEO45213. I presume that more colors will be offered in the future and that Neo Scale Models will once gain provide a limited edition for the German wholesaler and reseller Modelcarworld. The Belgian Jacques Coune has produced and offered in 1963 and 1964 only four Volvo Amazon convertibles. They were available with either a bordeaux or black leather interior. Neo Scale Models has previously released an open version of the Volvo Amazon Coune Convertible. Three different colors have been offered as you can see here. Source & copyright :
More background info about the Volvo Amazon Coune : I ran this week into a reseller called carloverdiecast who is not only offering most 1:18 Volvo dealer editions but also lighted scale models which they modify on request. The price of this transformation might hardly fit into your annual scale model budget. The regular price is $641.00 USD (± 574) but even the actual sale price of $455.00 USD (± €408) ain't a bargain. And you will need to add on top of this the price for the actual scale model as well as for the shipping fees. Carloverdiecast undertakes only transformations on models who are bought directly from them. This is a security measure to avoid any arguments concerning the quality of the actual model they start from to do the light-tuning.
Carloverdiecast shows a couple photos of a transformed 1:18 scale model of the recent Volvo S6oL Dealer Edition. The lights are all LED and carloverdiecast offers you also the possibility to turn on or switch off all the lights of the car via an app (Android only). The lights are powered by a battery.
The Chinese toy manufacturer Double Horse Toys Industry Co. Ltd. (Donghu Industrial Park, Chenghai, Shantou, Guangdong, China) is offering a model of Volvo's XC Coupe Concept. This model is produced for the Chinese domestic market. The 1:32 scale Volvo XC Coupe is made out of diecast and is fitted with rubber tires. It is available in four different colors: white, light blue, yellow and red. Each model features opening side doors as well as an opening trunk and hood. And since it is a kids toy and not a collector item Double Horse Toys has added working lights and sound. This car model comes also with pull back function. It measures roughly 15cm long, 6cm width and 5cm high.
It is offered officially only in China. I do ignore if it will be offered anytime soon on the remaining countries. The prices I have found in China vary between 13.62 and 18.89 US $ for one model. There are also web-stores who offer a discounted set of all four colors for 45.93 US $ (11.48 / unit).
Norev has supplied another new scale model to Volvo's own merchandising department. It is a 1:43 diecast model of the actual Volvo V40. The scale model is available in two different paint schemes. The first being denim blue metallic (723) and the second amazon blue (621). First of all these are not the same models released a couple years ago by Motorart. These Volvo V40 are made by Norev with a complete new mold. If you look closely you will see a couple differences. A major one being the panoramic glass roof on this new scale model. Volvo sells each model for €47.60 incl tax. You may find as well a copy at your local Volvo dealer. You can also order any of the official Volvo merchandising models @ collection.volvocars.com
Some people mentioned earlier on FB that they didn't like the color choice of this latest release. Well they might be true and twice blue may sound boring. But if you have a look at the available color options of the real Volvo V40 you will notice that most colors have already been offered on the rest of Volvo's scale models. I think it would be even more boring to have the same color for every single model of Volvo's actual product line. But colors are indeed always a subject. And I guess we could discuss it for hours.
Norev will anyway offer at least two new as well as different colors in their regular product line. Just wait a couple months and check here or your local re-seller with what Norev will come up. The first close-up photos of the upcoming Volvo V60 model by Matchbox have been published two days ago on the blog named 'the Lamley Group'. This photo set reveals a really nicely reproduced 3-inch miniature of Volvo's handsome estate. I hope Matchbox will bring us more Volvo models like this. The blue paint suits this Volvo V60 really well. This Volvo V60 may be available for late fall or early winter. I'm already pretty curious to see which other colors they will come up with. Take a look at the pics - they speak for themselves! Enjoy. Courtesy of lamleygroup.com
The Australian company Apex Replicars has recently announced four Volvo S60 race-car models from this years Australian V8 Supercars championship. The following photos depict the first samples which just arrived from the production site in China. Source:
